Getting There

We realize that it will require a little more effort to get to Niagara Falls but we’re sure that when you arrive, you will realize that it was well worth it! There is a reason why 13 million visitors a year make Niagara Falls a top “bucket list” destination.

There are three international airports within an hour's drive by car to the Sheraton on the Falls Hotel. We do recommend that you fly into Pearson, however, as that is where we have arranged the discounted shuttle to Niagara Falls.

Distance to Niagara Falls:

Shuttle from Airports

We have arranged for a discounted shuttle from Pearson Airport with Niagara Air Bus. The cost is $82+HST return. Call (905) 374-8111 or go to
You must put in code 302 to receive the discount. Prices will be automatically discounted.

Niagara Air Bus will offer CNRC delegates a 10% discount on private limos from all other airports (but this option is still pricey).

Executive Director’s Message

cherylIt is with great excitement that I invite you to join us at our
12th National Respiratory Care & Education conference
November 5-7th, 2015 at the Sheraton on the Falls in
Niagara Falls, Ontario.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Transforming Practice: Improving Care”. You will see this them reflected throughout the conference, particularly as we will be providing education on our new health education competencies.

And I know I say this every year but our conferences just keep getting better and better! Whether you are a brand new Certified Respiratory or Tobacco Educator or hoping to become one… or you are a “seasoned” educator, this conference will meet your needs.

We have some really special keynote speakers coming this year. Visionary TED MD speaker Dr. Victor Strecher will be speaking to us about health behavior change and his work on helping clients find purpose. Dr. Strecher will have you reconsidering long-held assumptions and beliefs about health, risk, behaviour change, motivation, and engagement. Dr. Dennis Raphael will help us to understand why some people get healthy and others do not. He will bring his passion and frustration with the lack of action on social determinants of health in Canada in a highly entertaining keynote address. Communications expert Stephen McGarvey of Solutions In Mind will speak to us about “Unconscious Communication, Persuasion and Influence”. He will present a keynote address designed to enhance respiratory and tobacco educators’ abilities to more effectively impact clients, at both the conscious and unconscious levels, and to influence their behavior (i.e. change their thinking).

You can read more about our keynote speakers here:

Every conference, delegates complain because they have a terrible time trying to choose which workshop to attend. I think you are going to be really mad at me this year because we have some amazing interactive workshops planned on diverse topics in respiratory care, education, tobacco cessation and allergy! You will just have to make sure you invite your colleagues so that you can divide up to attend as many workshops as possible and share what you have learned! We will also post all workshop handouts and presentations in our conference online community on TimedRight.

Here is a sample of just some of the 22 workshops you have to choose from:

Party at the Planet Social Night

We have rented out the iconic Niagara Falls Planet Hollywood for our private, exclusive “Party at the Planet”!

cherylIn keeping with the fabulous “kitsch” Niagara Falls is renown for, Planet Hollywood’s extravagant
décor will remind you of your favourite classic and current Hollywood movies. Nearly every inch of the walls is filled with movie and celebrity memorabilia. Planet Hollywood is part of the Sheraton on the Falls resort complex and is just a short walk from the hotel. We will dine on a buffet dinner featuring salads, lasagna, roasted chicken, salmon, vegetables and assorted desserts.

CNRC social nights are known for great live music and lots of dancing! We have really outdone ourselves this year. We are so excited to announce that we have booked recording artists Xprime for the evening. (And we still have lots more surprises in store. Stay tuned!)

Xprime is truly a band whose live show needs to be experienced to be believed. This high-energy Niagara-based pop/rock group is comprised of four members: Neil Carson, Phil Taylor and brothers Gab Sid and Steph Mercier.

And ladies.... You’re welcome!

This is an extra-event ticket, not included in your regular conference registration fee.
The cost of the ticket is $75. Travelling with family or friends? Guests are welcome to join
in the fun!
